My name is Raquel Vega.I'm currently attending and a senior at Salinas High School in Salinas,Ca. I will be graduating this year C/O '17. I've been playing volleyball for about 6 years now, I have experience in the Middle and Right side and now I'm playing Right Side for Varsity#11. I've played throughout my 3 years of high school going onto my 4th.
Junior for me I can definitely say was the hardest year of my life. On February 2nd 2016, I was hospitalized due to fever, back aches, chills, nausea, dizziness, blackouts and very dehydrated. The doctors immediately rushed me to a room, input (16) bags and bags of IV and other medication to keep me alive. So then after all that ruckus I was sent up in ICU at SVMH in critical condition. When the doctors came up to my room they had told me that I was in septic shock and no it was because of the tampons, it was A blood infection spreading through my whole body. My case is still unknown till this present day. Anyways to make this story shorter I was in the hospital for almost a month, sent home was on meds for 1 month but had another infection of Cdiff that had reoccurred about 3 times within 2 months. Ever since that happened to me it shows how I don't let my past get in the way of what I want to do later in life and of course volleyball. I don't want anyone to feel sorry but just think how hard it would be to see your loved one going through that and how long it would take them to fully recover. It will take me about 1year to be completely myself again and I'm getting there.
To conclude I am a very active, social, sportsmanship, enthusiastic, coachable, strong minded,self-reliant and smart student with a great heart and love for volleyball. I'm not the best yet, but my day will come to one of the best. Thank you for your time and hope to hear from you coaches.
Sincerely,
Raquel Vega
