I began playing soccer when I was just three years old. I could barely run, let alone kick a soccer ball. I played recreationally with Real Colorado until my eighth-grade year, when my team decided to go competitive. Freshman and sophomore years, we played silver until the group disbanded the summer before my junior year. That summer, I decided to move to Colorado United Soccer Club and play gold. I stuck with this team for two seasons until our coach decided to coach a lower level, and we disbanded. The summer before senior year, I was determined to play one more club season before high school soccer in the spring. I attended tryouts for United and was offered a position on the Red team.
As for my high school soccer career, freshman and sophomore year, I played full time on the junior varsity team and often played with Varsity as a swing player. Sophomore year, I was voted captain for the JV team. I had never experienced that type of leadership on the field before and truly enjoyed encouraging my teammates to grow as athletes and as people. Junior year, I was offered a spot on Varsity as a starting right-wing defender. As for this upcoming soccer season, I am one of two seniors who has participated in the program all four years, and we are planning to take on the role of varsity captains this year.
