My story about being an athlete is basically any normal athlete story. I'm a sophomore in high school and I have already accomplished 2 IHSA state championship titles and 1 Indoor Prep Top Times state championship title. I went to state my freshman year in cross country. I won my first title as a freshman in my 4x800m relay. I was the 1st leg and it was challenging but I managed to run a split of 2:27.26 with my injured hips. I have a really bad hip problems. They pop in and out of place, so I've learned how to deal with the pain and keep pushing through. My second state championship title was in cross country while both of our boys and girls team won. I was the 3rd runner and broke 19 for the first time. 18:51 was my time and I placed 46th out of more than a 300 runner race. It was thrilling to be now as a two times state champion as a sophomore in high school. On my 16th birthday this year I was driving myself back to the school later that night to present the school the state trophy with my team but I got into a car accident. The car was heading into my lane, so I went into their lane. Their car wigged out so then I did and I over-corrected myself and the car was lying on the passenger side. I kicked through the windshield within 3 kicks and managed to get out, because I thought I was going to die if I didn't get out. It was so mortifying.I was rushed to the hospital on the ambulance, with my fellow teammates later hearing about it that night, all of them came to the hospital crying their eyes out while I told them to smile and everything will be okay. I thank God that day for keeping me safe. I was out for sometime and look at me now, I'm back and I'm better but faster than ever.
