I have many goals that I am striving to achieve, and one of
them being to play college basketball. My love for basketball started at my pre-school/daycare
when I was 3, and I would stand outside by the basketball hoop and try all day
to shoot the ball into it.Once I made
it, I never stopped putting the ball in the hoop, it was what I did every day
until I left when I was 10.I have put
in time, effort, hard work and dedication to get me where I am today in my
basketball career which is playing on Varsity with Vicksburg High School and
making the Michigan Premier 9th grade AAU team. It doesn’t matter if
it’s practice or in a game, I give my best effort and practice how I play.A good team dynamic is very important to playing your best
and winning in general.I feel it
doesn’t matter how or who makes the shot to get the basket. My basketball IQ helps me make the right
decisions in the moment.I am very good
at looking for the best shot possible and breaking a press to push it up the
court.I am also not afraid to drive in
or make an opening for a shot.I am a
very skilled ball handler which makes me even better at being a point guard, I
understand the importance of eyes up while moving with the ball so that I don’t
miss that split second pass that turns into a basket.I make sure to communicate on offense and
defense so that there is no confusion and to provide direction from my
angle. On defense I am very good at
reading the offense and anticipating what their next move is and what is going
to happen so I can be ready to stop, block or steal it.While playing, energy is one of the most important elements
of the game, not just physical energy but emotional energy.I encourage my teammates on the court and on
the bench.I have learned a lot along
the way, grit, teamwork and good sportsmanship. My favorite part of basketball is winning, my team and the people I get
to meet along the way.I put a lot of focus and effort into my schooling as well,
obtaining a GPA of 3.8 currently.I hope
as I pursue my degree in the health field as a Radiologist that I get to
continue to grow, learn and experience even more about basketball at a collegiate
level.
