My name is Terence Hampton Jr., and I am a dedicated student athlete committed to growing both academically and athletically. I’ve earned a place in the 1000 pound club in Powerlifting, which reflects my strength, discipline, and work ethic. I’ve also continued to maintain strong grades, showing that I take my education seriously.
My goal is to attend college—preferably an HBCU—where I can thrive in the classroom and on the field, and work toward my long term plan of becoming an Engineer. I’m looking for a school that fits me academically, with professors who both support and challenge me. As a visual and hands on learner, I do best in environments where I can engage directly with the material and receive guidance that pushes me to grow.
I come from a single parent home, and my mom has made countless sacrifices for our family. It hasn’t always been easy, and I’ve had to overcome obstacles and hard times, but those experiences have shaped my drive and determination. I will be the first in my family to go to college and earn a degree, and that motivates me every day. I feel I owe it to myself to accomplish great things, and becoming a first generation college graduate is something I know will make my mom proud.
Football has been one of my favorite sports since I was a kid, and I’ve always dreamed of playing at the college level with aspirations of reaching the NFL. Playing college football is important to me because it will help build my character, confidence, strength, and leadership. I value team connectedness and the positive relationships that come from being part of a program that works hard together.
Going to college is also a major step toward building a better future for myself and my family. Earning a degree and developing as an athlete will put me in a position to provide for the people who have supported me and to create long term stability and opportunities for us.
Overall, I’m looking for a college where I can contribute to the team, develop as a player, and continue becoming the best version of myself—academically, athletically, and personally.
