I have a very big family, yet only half of them went to college and as far as I know only 1 of my family members got to play their game longer. I’d like that for myself as well, that’s the dream. At least 2 more years  I’ll take everything I can get. I’m in love with track and field. I want to be the person in my family who not only got to play their game longer, but to show my family I’m dedicated to this sport. I’ve given up on other sports in the past. Volleyball, soccer, and wrestling. I haven’t given up on this sport, not because I’m just passionate about it, but because I want to make my mom happy. She pushes me everyday to try & be better than I was the day before. Not only as an athlete, but as a student in the classroom as well. I’ve hit bumps in the road as a student. I didn’t take my freshman year seriously in the classroom, I messed up when I shouldn’t have. Sophomore year I started buckling down a little bit and tried harder. As soon as COVID hit and I was a Junior I told myself “you can’t be the old you that you were before COVID. It’s time for a change.” I did just that, I buckled down even more my Junior year, but I gave up towards the end of the school year. My GPA is pretty good, but it could be better. This is my last ride. Senior year. I want to get a scholarship for track, that would be absolutely amazing and I feel like that would make my mom proud of me. Even if I didn’t make it as an athlete I’d like to get an academic scholarship. My biggest fear is disappointing my mom. Her and I have been through terrible things together but we also got through them together. She’s my number 1 supporter.
