Since I was four, I begged my parents to play football. Football then started being a regular part of
my life since I was six years old when I started playing flag football. I told my parents I wanted to play tackle football the next year. They
let me play tackle football when I was seven.
Then my real passion and real enjoyment for football began. Ever since I
first started to play football, I loved the idea of playing for my teammates and helping them and the team succeed, and knowing
that if you don’t do your job, there’s a chance one of your teammates may get hurt. Through my Junior Kang years I played on teams that only had 17 or 18 guys. So, from when I was 7 to my freshman year in high school, I played
just about every snap on both offense and defense. I played almost every position during my
Junior Kang years, including quarterback, tight end, tackle, kicker, running back,
linebacker, and safety.
In my freshman year at Lake Washington High school I started
out on the C-team, and we went 6 and 3. I started at tight end and outside
linebacker. I was called up to JV half way through the season and played
outside linebacker and did kickoff and punt. Then I was called up to varsity
for the playoffs my freshman year. I won the G.R.I.T award for the freshmen
class. The G.R.I.T award was voted upon by the other freshman. They vote on
the person who represents G.R.I.T meanings: Gratitude, Respect, Integrity,
and Team.
My sophomore season I
started on kickoff, kick return, and punt. I was also second-string strong safety
to a three year varsity starter. I also played on JV where I made 92 tackles in 8
games while our team went 5 and 3. I started at strong safety and frequently played
running back. My sophomore year I earned a varsity letter and received all three awards
for the sophomore class: the G.R.I.T award, Always Rising
Award, and was elected the speaker for the sophomore class.
During my junior season I started at outside linebacker, punt,
kickoff, and kick return on varsity. I made 53 tackles and received Kingco
League honorable mention. Our team went 8 and 3 while winning the KIngco league title and going to the
playoffs.
In addition to football, I play varsity baseball, and
varsity swim. I also played basketball until 8th grade, soccer until 5th grade, and I skied for
about five years.
I love playing football and have a passion for winning,
working hard, working out and being a great teammate. I study film of the games and listen to
coaches to constantly improve my football skills.
