About Me

My name is Vinko Polovic and I have been playing organized basketball since the age of 4. My goal is to play college basketball at the highest level possible.

Something unique about me as a player and student of the game is that I am a more mentally mature basketball player because of the numerous and diverse teams that I have played with throughout the years.

I have learned what it is like to be a role player on very talented teams and I have learned what it’s like to be the leader and influencer of a successful team. I have been part of winning teams my entire life.

My high school team was one of the winningest teams in school history defeating the state champions in the regular season. As a team we competed and lost to the eventual state champions in the semi-final of the WIAA State Championship.

While attending Don Bosco Institute we have become the most winningest team in the program’s 9 year history.

During my time with the prestigious Team Herro/ Phenom teams we have also been known to be a very successful and winning AAU program.

For the past two years I had been invited to intern, learn, and work with Trainer/Coach, Drew Dunlop, who trains professional players from the NBA, overseas as well as collegiate athletes. I used my strong work ethic during any down times I had this year very productively. I worked hard multiple times a day for long hours in the gym every day with a focus to maximize my time for training/interning during the summer months.

This year I was accepted by the Don Bosco Institute, Crown Point, IN to continue to develop my basketball skills. I am grateful to the founder and director David Maravilla for the opportunity to be a part of such a fantastic program. I appreciate my Coach Niko Panousis for the direction and instilled value of hard work and hustle creating a winning team.

I have had the privilege of working with Coach Ivan Vujic. Coach Ivan Vujic is an accomplished Division 1 player at Valparaiso University, played professionally overseas (olympic medal winner U18/U19 Croatian national team), and a former assistant coach at Valparaiso, DePaul, and Marshall University.

Coach Vujic has trained me individually for nearly a year and had become a great instructor and mentor in my journey. With a rigorous workout schedule during the regular season, he helped me put in the in extra hours on days where others may feel tired. I thrive off of extra training because I understand these hours of commitment make me a better basketball player and separate myself from my competition. Overall, Coach Vujic has done a tremendous job training me to improve any weaknesses in my game and sharpening my skills to become a complete well rounded basketball player.

As a 6’8” player, my ball-handling skills and jump shot are my biggest attributes. My three point and mid-range shooting ability has always been one of the strongest points of my game.

I have the ability to rebound and start a fast-break coast to coast finishing with a pass/dunk/layup or pullup three pointer.

I have an efficient jump shot and the confidence to catch and shoot as well as create my own scoring opportunity.

My height allows me to score off of designed catch and shoot plays, and my ball-handling allows me to create scoring opportunities off the dribble for myself and teammates. I pride myself on improving my defense, rebounding, and passing skills.

Overall, I am a very diverse player who is very passionate for the game of basketball capable of running fast-breaks, playing tough defense, rebounding, shooting deep threes, mid-range jump shots, post plays, and above the rim finishes.

I am very determined to become better and dedicated to improve my skills.

I believe with the right program I can create an immediate winning impact.

Your time and interest is greatly appreciated!
