About Me
Hello, my name is Jersie Taylor, I am from Gillette Wyoming where I am a Junior at Thunder Basin HS. I love basketball, I love competing, and I love winning. I am a gritty player who works hard, plays hard and I am not afraid to get on the floor for a loose ball or battle with the bigs for rebounds. I was a varsity letter winner my freshman year at Campbell County High School, and then our town split into 2 high schools. I have been a starter my sophomore and junior year and began the 2018-19 season by winning the championship at the Energy Classic and being named to the All-Tournament team for a second year in a row. Last season my team ended up placing 3rd at State, and I was voted All-Conference and All-State as a sophomore. This year we won the 4A state championship and I earned All-Conference and All-State for a 2nd year. I missed 9 games this year due to breaking my wrist at the Nike Tournament in Phoenix, I still played 7 games until I had the x-rays taken. We played some very competitive games in preseason going 3-1 at the Nike Tournament in December 2018, losing to the eventual champion of our bracket La Jolla County Day from San Diego in our opening game. After Christmas 2018 we won the Energy Classic beating St Joseph Notre Dame from Alameda CA in the championship.
My Junior season stats as of January 1st 2019, this was 2 games before my injury and 7 games playing with a broken wrist... 12.8 points per game 6.4 rebounds per game 3.8 steals per game 2.7 assists per game I was able to come back for Regionals and State and my stats were... 10.8 points per game 4.3 rebounds per game 2.16 steals per game 2 assists per game
I have put in a lot of time and hard work this summer to work on my overall game. I am playing club ball this summer with the Colorado Basketball Club for Coach Caryn Jarocki from Highlands Ranch HS in Denver Colorado. Here are some of the tournaments we will be playing in
Super 64 National Championship July 6-8 Frisco, TX Adidas Gauntlet Finale July 10-20 Indianapolis, IN Atlanta Peach Splash July 20-23 Atlanta, GA
Adidas Summer Championship July 23-25 Atlanta, GA
I have also been the starting Outside Hitter for our Varsity Volleyball team the last two seasons. I earned All-Conference and All-State this year and our team ended up placing 4th at State.
In my down time I enjoy hanging out with friends and family. My younger siblings all play multiple sports and I enjoy going to watch them and cheering them on. I enjoy vacations especially if I can relax on the beach.
Ever since Jr High my goal has been to play basketball in college. It's hard to believe it is already time to start looking at colleges, but I am excited about it. I am wanting to pursue a career in elementary education because I enjoy working with young kids.
