  • Basketball is one of the most important things in my life and I want to play it until the grave. I take pride in my work ethic and doing my best to be a leader on and off the court. Since the 7th grade, every school team that I have been on has had undefeated league play seasons. Playing with NBBA’s showcase team (Turner) for AAU, I got to play against some of the best competition on the west coast. My freshman and most of my sophomore year I went to Maria Carrillo High School which is a public school with sports programs and a difficult academic track. At the end of my sophomore year however, in the midst of COVID, I transferred to Cardinal Newman High School, which offered more opportunities athletically and academically, just in time for the shortened COVID basketball season. I loved the elevated difficulty of varsity competition and it took a while to get to the level of play needed to get into the starting lineup. Working hard, I knew I could get there. The following summer I ended up fracturing my wrist playing a pick up game and that was a big blow. I lost time. I ended up being in a cast for two months only for that to lead to a surgery and another two months being in a cast. I overcame adversity as soon as the cast got off by hitting the gym. Since then, I have experienced success such as my team winning the Santa Rosa Classic Tournament, playing teams like Bishop Montgomery in the Mission Prep Classic, and getting awarded All Tournament Award in the Rose City Tournament. It was a grind to get back to where I was athletically. Now being a part of the starting lineup and I can’t wait for the regular season to start.
  • After the air comes out of the ball, academics are a foundation of who I am. Good grades are a part of my journey to become a professional whether it be in basketball, engineering, or otherwise. This comes through hard work and creativity. Staying after class is necessary at times to better understand what it will take to get there.
