My late uncle put a glove on my hand at 2 1/2 and a ball in the other, and my training began. I picked the ball up and slung it across the room. 6 months later, he passed away. My family was devastated, but my grandfather threw himself into working with me. I learned to play all positions, and by the time I was 4, I knew I wanted to play Short Stop. My dad was never around much, but my grandfather (Pop) has been and no matter how tired he might be; he has always made time for me.
He has been my biggest supporter, but also my biggest critic until I get it right. If I want to spend hours practicing, he's right there by my side. I am one of the top best all around Short Stops and it's all because of the man that has always made time for me. While SS is my sweet spot, I've proven to my high school coaches that I can play any position where I'm needed and have thrown runners out from RF more than once. My fastball has stopped many batters from even coming close.
