My name is Saliah Ponteau and I'm a senior in high school. I started playing basketball at the young age of 4. I got all my skill from my older brother but he passed around the time I was turning 10 so he hasn't been able to be on this journey with me. As I've played from recreational teams in elementary to AAU teams in middle school to my varsity team in high school, I've carried his spirit with me. I want to make him proud and let him know I can achieve greatness by using my gift of basketball. I've had to overcome obstacles such as my own confidence and learn to play with the effort and heart that coaches look for. Since my 2019-2020 season has begun, I've managed to work my way up from bench to starter and I plan to keep it that way. I'm preparing myself for what's going to be required of me at the next level such as being aggressive, having confidence and the desire to win no matter what. And if given the chance, I can't wait to show that I have what it takes to be successful at that next level.
