Starting soccer was
SUPPOSED TO BE
temporary. I am a black belt in Taekwondo. I received my black belt at age 8 1/2. I was too young to train for my 2nd degree so I had to be a junior instructor until I could start training for my 2nd degree at age 11. After a year, I was bored. As my mom and I were driving down Lake Mead Blvd in Las Vegas, she saw a sign up for AYSO. She asked if I wanted to join for the time being UNTIL I was old enough to start training for my 2nd degree black belt. I figured it couldn't hurt. So I joined my first soccer team as an AYSO U11 player. After 2 seasons I was asked to tryout for the AYSO Traveling All Star team. I made it and actually won a starting job. After that 6 week season, the coaches told my mom that I shouldn't play for AYSO anymore and should try out for club. My first club team was LV Neon in Las Vegas U12 girls.
I’m currently a a rising senior at one of the premier academic high schools in Chicago...Jones College Prep. I play for Chicago City Soccer Club and I'm the starting winger (either side). Depending on the explosiveness of the offense, my club coach also plays me at outside attacking back and sometimes at attacking center mid. This past summer my club team played in the SuperY league and I led them to a bid to play in the National Championship this past December in Tampa, FL. I also play HS soccer and have been on the varsity team since freshman year. I'm honored and humbled to announce that I was elected the incoming captain of my HS varsity team.
I thrive on competition and am happiest when I'm able to contribute to the team's success. When I moved from Las Vegas to Chicago the summer of my 7th grade, I joined my fledgling club soccer team, Chicago City Soccer Club. I cried a lot that first year because we lost almost every game except our first tournament. Coming from the 4th ranked team in Nevada, I was not used to that. My mom told me that I could cry or I could work hard to help turn the team around. Coach Slavo, my club coach, told me that I'm the hardest working and most talented player on his team. I never give up. We've lost a few girls but kept our core team (the majority of the starters). We went from not winning any games to becoming the best team in the club's history. We were the first team in the club to win a state cup game, we made it to regionals and this past December, we made it to National Championships for SuperY in Tampa, FL.
I would love to be part of a team that I could help move forward and upward. Both my club & HS coaches have said that I'm very coachable and the most versatile player on their team.
Soccer aside, I'm sure that they will also tell you that I'm a good person. I was raised to work hard, be honest and treat everyone equally. My mom raised me to abide by the Golden Rule...to treat others as I would want to be treated. I thrive in an environment that fosters respect, humility, hard work, accountability and teamwork.
