About Me
My name is Jamiya Turner, and I’ve been playing volleyball since elementary school at the YMCA. I started playing club volleyball in the 7th grade, and it taught me a lot about discipline. I’ve managed to stay on top of my grades while participating in various extracurricular activities. Despite playing volleyball, I’m also involved in community service. I’ve completed 139 service learning hours, and there are many more to go. I’m also a member of several clubs at my school, including Dudley Helping Hands and National Honors Society. I’m very interested in pursuing a nursing degree in college. I love helping others, whether it’s in school or on the court. I believe I have a lot of potential to play at the collegiate level because I’ve been playing for so long and I am very dedicated to growing on and off the court. I am a very coachable person, I like when a coach gives constructive criticism. For school volleyball, my freshman year I was asked to play both JV and Varsity and was awarded with many plaques such as Defensive player, defensive player of the year, MVP, defensive MVP, and an all conference award. My coaches and my parents show me that I can play volleyball and is what pushes me to keep going and continue to work hard to get my name out to coaches.
