About Me

What Motivates Me

As seconds turned to minutes, hours, to days and even years I now started to realize I'm not a kid anymore. All the moments of growing up quickly started to turn into memories. The feeling of no worries in the world were gone in what seemed like the blink of an eye. The highlight of my childhood growing up to now is a sport that made me who I am today, a sport that changed not only my confidence but my overall view in life, football. When I was 10 years old I loved sports. Basketball was my main sport I played since I was 6 years old, my biological father was the one who introduced me to basketball although I didn’t live with him. I stayed with my mom and my step father since I was young, but I would go see my biological father every summer. I would train my heart out for basketball because it’s what I loved, these training sessions with my father built my character and confidence on the court even though I was the smallest one there. When I got around 10, I still had my heart set on basketball until my step father recommended that I should play football but I would always say I don’t want to because I didn’t want to get tackled or get injured, my step father didn’t give up though, he made me play and I hated it so I wasn’t any good. When I got into middle school, during football season I would try to play football but I failed to get any playing time because I wasn’t as good as others. I started to lose all motivation in myself, school, and sports, I started getting bad grades and almost failing my classes, I would get in trouble often which made my parents upset with me.  Sooner or later, there was a travel football team and my dad told me that I should give football another shot and try for the team, I started on this team but I was really nervous, I was in a position that got hit the most and all I could think was that I was going to get injured. After I got hit for the first time I said to myself, “This isn’t so bad”. I played and I started to get better, I didn’t care about getting hit anymore, and I started to have love for this sport. I trained hard, and I worked to get better everyday so I would be able to get playing time in high school unlike I did in middle school. I started to train as a wide receiver because I wanted to play in this position and luckily that’s what the highschool team needed. I started my freshman year and I thought to myself I wanted to keep playing football for the rest of my life.  Football has been more than just a sport for me; it has been a defining aspect of my life, shaping my character, teaching me invaluable lessons, and providing a sense of community. The discipline, teamwork, and perseverance required to excel in football have not only made me a better athlete but also a more resilient and determined individual. Football motivated me to have good grades every year to end up going to college and keep playing football. I got into The Beta Club and National Technical Honor Society to be more looked at, I achieved goals I would have never thought I would in school that I wouldn't have achieved without football in my life. Throughout my high school career, I have faced numerous challenges both on and off the field. Tough losses, and rigorous training schedules have tested my limits. However, these experiences have also taught me the importance of dedication and hard work. Each setback has been an opportunity to grow stronger, both mentally and physically. The bond with my teammates and the support from my coaches have been instrumental in overcoming these obstacles and achieving success. As I look forward to the next chapter of my life, I am eager to bring the lessons I've learned from football to my college experience. I am confident that the skills and values I have developed will not only help me succeed in my academic pursuits but also enable me to contribute positively to the college community.
