About Me

Cross country has been a whole new experience to me since I just started running my Freshman year. I took on Cross Country as a Fall sport not knowing my potential. Our weekly workouts consisted of  distance, speed, mid-distance, hills, and our pre-race run. I struggled in the beginning of the season not even being able to run 5 miles, but I knew I couldn't give up. I worked through the pain and made it through every run no matter how much it hurt. When my first meet came around, I didn't know what to expect of myself. My first race was a 21:20 and I thought that was alright for my first meet of running Cross Country.  Towards the middle of the season, I would finally break 20 minutes. My best run of my Freshman year was at the Sectional Championship meet where I ran a 19:21. Now once my Sophomore year came around I was ready for a challenge and I wanted to be the #1 runner on the team. My goal of the season was to get an 18:30. Once the first meet of the year came around I was ready to go and lead the team. At that meet, I got an 18:31 and had to re-evaluate my goals to an 18:00. Throughout the season, I decided that I wanted to be the leader of the team and try to make them better by making them run to my level instead of lower myself to them.  My best meet of the season was again at the Sectional Championships, where I had a chance to go to state, but sadly fell short by 24 seconds. My final time was 18:08 and, this time, got me 7th in school history in time. Being able to compete in Cross Country pass High School would be very exciting since it was not a sport that I even thought of doing before entering into high school.  I have found that Cross Country has taught me how to run up to my potential and not down to others.
