About Me

My name is Maya Fung and I started my soccer journey at the age of 6 in Culver City California where I got my first touches with
AYSO
. Much to my surprise, I was able to advance to a Spring League with all the best ballers from Culver City on a team called Culver Cobras from that time I grew into loving soccer and juggling the ball.

After 3 seasons of AYSO I was on my way to my very first boys division club soccer team small boutique style club in Pacific Palisades California
Chelsea SC
with Coach Mele French and Coach Sasha Andrews (Canadian National Player) these were my soccer and life mentors that I will never ever forget.

I remember doing fast footwork friday and having my mentality be put to test at
Chelsea SC
and I was only 8 years old at this time.

As time went on I wanted something more challenging so I joined
Beach FC
in Long Beach California we played many games and tournaments and I learned a lot from playing many games.

I wanted to join a top Flight 1 team in California but it was tough because I was coming in as an unknown player.. that said, my Dad took me to train with Coach Chili in Norwalk CA. at  Urban Soccer Center 5 I started training and learning the Chilean style play with Coach Chili taught me many techniques and defensive play that I still use to this day. While i was at USC5 I met many different club teams and players I was also doing futsal with
Toque Futsal
a few days a week in Downey CA. there I learned how to move fast in and out of tight spaces and contain the ball.

Toque Futsal
was a wonderful experience and from that time I was able to tap into my creative style play which made me start to love the game more and more.

While I was at Toque a team called HG (Hawaiian Garden Eagles SC) would come out and play with us and this team had a lot of really good ballers and they were very fun to play futsal with. I was asked to join their soccer club that was in the CSL League Gold level league at the time. I remember we played some serious 2007 teams like
Soccer Devils
from Riverside CA. that were insanely good and
Eagles SC
from Camarillo not to mention
Tudela FC
.. This was the start of my soccer journey.

My Dad and I would practice juggling the ball daily for at least 1 hour everyday which improved my touch and confidence with the ball as well drove me to ultimately get the
Guinness World Record
for most juggles in 1 hour which is still my record 13,300.

In 2019 my family and I moved to North Texas in a town called Denton and City of Prosper from here on I played club soccer with
Sting ECNL 2007
and after 2 seasons lots of club and team changes lead the team to disband.

During this transitional time period I found a very good and extremely passionate futsal club in Oklahoma called
Rise Futsal Academy
that gave me the opportunity to play with a 2007 futsal team summer 2021 where we went to Orlando Florida to compete in National and Worlds futsal and ranked 4th place in the world tournament.

I attend Allegiance Academy for Soccer and Academics from 2023-2024 and I play futsal under Coach Pablo Da Silva former USA Mens National Coach.

My family and I decided to move back to the west coast in 2024 summer to Oregon.
My current soccer club is Portland Thorns ECNL 06/07 Coach Maite Zabala mzabala@thornsacademy.com
