About Me
I was born in
Corpus Christi, Texas, and due to my dad’s job, my family and I
have moved five times before graduating high school. I have
lived in Dallas, Texas; Bloomington, Illinois; Tulsa, Oklahoma
and Phoenix, Arizona, and returned to my birth state of Texas
during my sophomore year.
Leaving old
friends and making new ones can be challenging, but moving has
taught me to be adaptable and increased my level of
self-confidence and maturity both on and off the golf course. In
fact, golf has paved the way for many new friendships, and my
old friends are only a text/call away.
Moving has
also improved my golf game. Living and playing in such diverse
regions of the country has taught me how environmental factors,
like climate and altitude, affect my game. For example, a golf
ball will react different in the deserts of Arizona than it does
in the plains of Texas.
I was seven
years old and living in Bloomington when I picked up my first
golf club, and I haven’t put it down since! I love golf. By
middle school, I knew my aspiration was to play on a competitive
collegiate team. I signed to play at University of Colorado in
Colorado Springs my freshman year.
On February
8, 2023, I learned the University was eliminating the men and
women's golf programs following the 2023 Spring season. On
February 9, 2023, I entered the transfer portal to find a new
universitythat fits both my academic and
athletic desires.
After
graduating high school early, I worked as an intern for the
Dallas Stars executive office before heading to Colorado
Springs. This past summer, I returned to the Dallas Stars for
my second internship. The past few years, I have also been
working with my mom in her accounting and business consulting
firm, Deravia & Co. Learning both the basics of accounting
as well as how business is run will be a huge asset to my future
degree in Sports Management.
