About Me

Football has been in my life for as long as I can remember.  I started playing when I was 6 years old and fell in love with the game instantly. Since then, the game has provided me with the opportunity to really learn what dedication and hard work are, to appreciate them, and to understand their contribution to success.  Football has given me direction, work ethic, and taught me valuable lessons in handling adversity.

I can and have played a variety of positions over the years, including QB, RB, WR, LB, S and special teams.  I enjoy playing safety.  The range and flexibility of the position allows for great physicality.  And, it provides an opportunity to analyze the opponent and to help influence the strategy for the stop.

I appreciate the earned bravado shared with my team and the balance provided by humbling moments.  Little things; like the butterflies I get at the start of every kickoff on special teams to the way they seem to instantly disappear at the kick.  Or, a great battle with a receiver. Especially when I get the best of him.

The proudest accomplishment of my football career so far was being asked to move up to play 6A varsity safety my sophomore year.  It may not have happened if I hadn’t been injured the week before my freshman opening game.  There was quite a bit of anxiety watching the number 1 QB spot go to the next guy while I limped around on the sidelines.  However, in a few weeks I was back on the field and playing safety and enjoying the position very much.  I always loved defense and the stable of older QB’s ahead of me for varsity was pretty full. I would have probably played JV for some time before being called up.  The adversity introduced by my little injury turned into a major opportunity.  Because, at the end of the day, I just want to play.  I just want to be on the field.

Playing football is therapy to me and I get excited when I see my teammates succeed.  I strive to bring leadership, consistency and a good character example to my team every day.  It’s where I am happiest.
