I am looking for an opportunity to play baseball where I can contribute to the teams success through hard work on and off the field. Growing up learning baseball I was taught every position on the field and that helps me to understand not only the responsibilities of my position but also the responsibilities of others on the field. I am capable of playing every position except catcher but my expertise is in the OF, Middle Infield and on the mound as a RHP. I strive for perfection in my play. This year I closed out my Junior Year HS season with only 1 error in over 30 games.
I am comfortable in all situations on the mound - starting, long-relief, short-relief, and closing. The situation I am placed in by the coach does not matter I go out there with the attitude to do my job whether we are winning or losing and whether we need one out or twenty-one. I am a contact pitcher with the ability to locate pitches to generate ground balls or pop flies depending on the situation. With a BB% less than 3% I rarely walk batters and when I do I am able to keep them honest with a quick move to 1st. I believe strongly in fielding my position on the mound and led the team in put-outs by a pitcher this HS season. The highlight of my Junior season was holding the #1 team in the state to 2 scoreless innings in relief.
Working with Coach Bacsik this off-season I have been able to
dramatically improve my 4-seam speed from mid 70s to now reaching into the mid-80s. I have also improved my change-up
through better grip control and my curveball by pushing the break-point closer
to the plate. I continue to improve on my mechanics, power and durability on the mound through weekly sessions with Coach Bacsik and through better conditioning and nutrition habits under his guidance.
Having won two area LL championships, including pitching a 10 win undefeated season, I have a thirst for winning and even more for championships. I believe this quote from one of my previous coaches sums up my desire to play the game of baseball.
"Joey’s competitive fire was second to none. He not only wanted to win every game but
every pitch, every at bat, every fielding opportunity, every stolen base
opportunity. Above all he was an
absolute pleasure to coach. He wanted to
learn as much as he could about the game taking instruction without
hesitation."
- Coach Jimmie Glorioso.
In addition to baseball I have played ice hockey since I was 2 years old including 3 years at the HS Varsity level where as a Junior I was named the MVP for the 2016-2017 season. I also played basketball and football but found the most satisfaction playing on the diamond.
Academically I am in pursuit of a degree in Mass Communications or Journalism with goal of being behind the mic or in front of the camera some day after my on-field baseball career comes to an end.
