About Me

My name is Calyce Jones, I am part of the class of 2021 and I would like to take this time to introduce myself. I attend Robert A. Millikan High School in Long Beach, California where I'm a senior and 3 year letterman on the Millikan High School's Varsity volleyball team. I have over 6 plus years of playing elite club volleyball. I served as the team’s captain and setter for both my high school and club teams, I'm more than capable of facilitating a 5-1 and/or 6-2 offense. I'm a very athletic and versatile setter who has a hard work ethic, loves to compete and leads by example. What I lack in size and experience at the setter’s position, I make up with competitiveness, confidence, control, composure, commitment, courage and consistency. I possess many intangible leadership qualities that has helped me excel both on the court and in the classroom.  I enjoy learning all of the key aspects of the setter's position and the various strategies of putting my hitters in optimal scoring opportunities. I’m in an advanced academic program at my high school, which is an established community of highly motivated, gifted and talented college-bound students. The rigorous curriculum includes accelerated, honors and successful completion of at least five Advanced Placement (AP) courses throughout my high school career.  I've maintained a 4.2 GPA while making the Principal’s Highest Honor Roll every semester and I’m a California Scholarship Federation honoree. I’m currently enrolled in the dual enrollment program at Long Beach City College where I have earned 42 college transferable general education and prerequisites unitsDuring my spare time I enjoy listening and dancing to great music with my friends. I love drawing and stretching people as way to relax. I also love experiencing various local, regional and global cultures through their fine arts, food and historical monuments. My off-season consist of improving my verticality, core strength and flexibility 2-3 times a week. In addition to my strength conditioning, I take part in an intensive setter’s-training sessions 3 times a week. I enjoy getting better and learning more about how to become a successful and more complete collegiate volleyball player.  I want to experience your university’s rich academic traditions, it’s all-around and supportive athletic environment. I want to perform at the highest level and compete for conference and national championships throughout my collegiate career. I believe I will be a valuable addition to your program and exemplify the many attributes your university and volleyball program requires of their student-athletes.
I want to take this opportunity to thank you for any future consideration as a prospective student-athlete volleyball recruit for your program. I look forward to building a great relationship with you and your coaching staff in the near future.

Respectfully,
Calyce Jones, Class of 2021
