About Me

I once read a quote that said "If you want to achieve greatness, never ask for permission."  I couldn't tell you who wrote it, or where I first saw it, but this is the seed that continues to grow in my mind.My name is Jason Salinas.  I'm entering my sophomore year as a student/athlete at W.T. White High School in Dallas, TX (CO 2022).  I'm the projected starting QB for our varsity football team (Longhorns).  With a lot of hard work, I plan on holding that position for the next 3 years of my high school career.  Playing football beyond high school is not a dream for me, its a goal.  I consider myself a student of the game, and I love everything from the practices, to the pre-snap reads during a game, to working out with my teammates in the off-season.  Football has taught me a lot about how to be a better leader on the field, and in the classroom.  For example, last year I was selected by our student council and faculty to participate in a leadership program that allowed me to share my high school experience with 8th grade students from our feeder middle schools.  The idea was to encourage them to be part of the Longhorn family, but mostly just to answer their questions about transitioning to high school.  I ended my freshman year with a 3.57 GPA, and I'll continue to do everything I can to increase that throughout the remaining 3 years of high school.  I also participate in basketball, baseball, track and golf but I took a break from those my freshman year to put some additional focus on developing my mechanics as a QB, since football is my preferred sport.  It was also hinted to me by our Athletic Director/Head Coach that I was strongly being considered as the starting QB on varsity as a sophomore.  So I wanted to make sure that I was doing what I could to earn it.  I'm always on the lookout for the next camp, combine, or showcase to compete at during the off season but when I don't have something scheduled you can find me at the gym working out or at our stadium with a couple of receivers practicing routes and doing some agility work.  I have a very supportive dad who also helps me train, diet, and provide guidance when I need it.  My coaches are awesome as well and consistently challenge me to be the best athlete I can be.  I’ve also had the pleasure of meeting and working with a lot of great trainers, former collegiate athletes, and a couple of pro athletes along the way.  I'm very blessed to have this entire group of mentors offering me guidance as I begin my recruiting journey.  I'm very grateful for all of the opportunities I've been given so far but I've still got a lot of work to do and not a whole lot of time to do it-since I'd like to have a commitment by my junior year.  Until then, my faith will remain strong and I'm going to continue trusting the process and doing whatever I can to be the best version of myself for my family, my coaches, my school and my friends.
