I have been an athlete since I was around the age of 5 years old. I played basketball and soccer. I played town(rec) and travel basketball. Also, I participated in town soccer. I did not like soccer that much as a child so I discontinued that sport for a while. I then continued with basketball. In the fifth grade I was challenged with a diagnosis that didn't settle well in my stomach. I had OCD of the right ankle. Doctors say it must have been a basketball related injury. So I was in a walking boot and crutches for 9 months than decided to have surgery. I had the surgery and everything seemed to be going smoothly until my very last post-op appointment. I expressed how it was sore and achy. At this point I was cleared for minimal activity. They said it must be residual pain from the operation and they informed me to take ibuprofen to help with the lain. Later, it was going well again so I was cleared for full activity. I was so happy, I could start playing basketball again. Now, I am still having some troubles with it, but that does not stop me from achieving my goals. I have sarted playing soccer again, for my high school. I also am on the JV basketball team and the track team. I am an active representative of the Carver Best Buddies Chapter. Usually I am an honors student.
