My Story
Sophie J. Weiler #19 Class of 2024 NCAA I D # 2108295101
I've signed to play soccer at Cedarville University
Sophie Weiler, from Huntington WV with a 4.735 GPA, and I'm determined to help your team and program be the best they can be on and off the field. I realize college-level soccer is a step up from high school and club soccer.
There are three things about who I am and what I bring to every team, practice, or game, no matter the level.
First, I'm always the first at practice and the last one to leave. If my parents can't get me there early (it's a 45-minute drive), I call coach Skye, and she will pick me up!
Second, I'm a very fast, athletic, either footed & versatile player. I'm currently an outside back and can play on either side of the field.
Here's What Coach Skye Says About Me Playing Outside Back. "Sophie excels at the outside back because of her 1v1 defending and speed. She is the fastest player on our team, and we haven't come across any forwards faster than her. Sophie is a huge threat in our attack and loves to get forward. She is quick with the ball and has a special ability to take on players 1v1. She often makes huge plays on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball."
I love a good assist as much as scoring one. In my 2021- 2022 season for Eastern Elite season as a defender and winger, I was one of the scoring and assist leaders for our team.
In 2021 Eastern Elite 05 Girls scored 47 goals, and I had 12 goals, 11 assists, and 22 winning corners! The last game of the 2021 season (The Midwest Regionals) my coaches moved me to outside back because of my speed and 1v1 skills and I love it!
As a High School Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Senior years, I played 5 positions and have been our leading scorer all 4 years with 76 goals on only 120 shots and 35 assists. I was selected AAA-All State, Sectional, Regional teams, and H.H.S.'s M.V.P., but I'm far prouder of my team's success!
2021 season scoring in the K.P.L.- Great Lakes II and High School, 15 of my goals were volley or header goals!
Third and finally, I value team accomplishments over individual accomplishments. Spring 2021 season, my EE'05 girl's team won the Kentucky Premier League and the Great Lakes Premier II. Kentucky State Cup Champions.
Spring 2022 Eastern Elite repeated as the Kentucky State Cup Champions, beating Javanon FC out of Louisville, Kentucky. Other big wins were against the nation's 8th - and 16th-ranked teams. We Beat Tonka Fusion Elite, The 2023nNational Runner-Up!
Eastern Elites, spring 2022 season record, including regionals, was 16-3-2. We became the first girl's team from Kentucky to advance to National League P.R.O.!
In 2022-2023 Eastern Elite will be playing in The National League PRO (Player Recruitment Opportunity), one of the nation's most selective and top leagues.
My Eastern Elite Club has also been selected as the first affiliate club with the Lexington Sporting Club, which is a big honor!
