About Me

I’ve always played golf. After my freshman season was canceled because of COVID-19, I decided I wanted to keep playing competitive golf after high school. I began working with an instructor to make improvements to my game.
My Dad played college golf and some professional golf afterward. He also worked in the golf business for over 10 years. He has helped me the last year to begin learning how to really play golf. My summer stroke average before I started high school was an unimpressive 99.75, but it’s where I began. I practiced more in anticipation of high school golf but not at a high level. With no high school golf that season, I finally got to play that summer and my stroke average came down to 90.5. Because I was putting in the time, my dad had me fitted for clubs and I began to work with Nick Dunn. He helped me a lot over the next year. My stroke average came down during my sophomore season to 83.56. I finished T-2 in the NTPGA East Texas Summer Series Championship and qualified for the NTPGA’s biggest summer series event in the metroplex. I had an outside chance to win with about 5 holes left but under the tough conditions, I had a bad hole and didn’t handle the result my best mentally. That is where things changed for me. My Dad and I began to talk more about the mental side of the game and how to manage expectations. My sister and I moved from working with Nick to the David Toms Academy in Shreveport. Our instructor there is Chad Darby. I see him once each month. Since then, I’ve played my best golf so far. I shot my teams’ low round the final day of the regional tournament last season with 78 in windy conditions. My T-2 at the summer championship came after lots of work with frustrating results prior to that. I shot my personal best of 70 in August at our home course. I finished 4th in our first fall tournament this season, shooting 76. I didn’t play that well but felt my self management and strategy kept my score from ballooning like it had in the past. I’m excited to continue working and overcoming setbacks. I’m a hard worker and despite the difficulties of golf, I know I will continue to improve for many years to come. Thank you for any consideration to join your college program.
