I heard a quote by Conor McGregor, “There's no talent here, this is hard work. This is an obsession. Talent does not exist, we are all equals as human beings. You could be anyone if you put in the time. You will reach the top, and that's that. I am not talented. I am obsessed.” This quote hit me hard. I have never thought of myself as a naturally talented person, but rather a hard worker, so his quote instantly gave me a surge of confidence to hear that a world-class athlete has a similar self-impression of himself. This has become my motto which I utilize every day. Living by this mindset has given me the opportunity to reach goals such as making the South Texas ODP team as a pool player and train with semi-pro players. In addition to soccer, I have applied this lifestyle to my schoolwork resulting in a 3.9 GPA while taking all AP classes earning a class rank of 13 out of 590 placing me in the top 2%.As a player and teammate, I take practices and games 100% seriously and encourage my teammates to do the same. I make it a point to give constructive criticism to my teammates as needed and appreciate constructive criticism of myself. My goal after high school is to earn a spot on a competitive collegiate soccer program while also working on a STEM degree.
