About Me
When I started reflecting to write my personal statement, I quickly realized I am more than a student-athlete with a passion for volleyball. I am most of all a daughter, an older sister, a friend, student, and a teammate. Each of these continue to play an important role in my life while learning many lessons on and off the court:
While volleyball doesn’t define me as a person, I love to play and compete! It brings me so much joy, and excitement to be on the court playing or cheering on my teammates from the sideline. Volleyball can be so unpredictable, and pushes me to compete at my best. I recognize it takes hard work, commitment, team leadership, and high academic standards to achieve my goals - to graduate from a four-year university and competing at the next level.
As a daughter, I’ve learned what it means to be loved through my family; to be responsible, trustworthy and accountable;
As an older sister, I’ve learned to be patient, how to lead by example, and be supportive;
As a friend, I’ve learned what it means to be present, kind, loyal, honest and understanding;
As a student, I’ve learned the importance of prioritizing, time management, positive attitude, and self-discipline;
And as a teammate, I’ve learned unselfishness, commitment, accountability, leadership, and respect for others.
