My name is Ayanna Danielle Cheek. I am 17 years of age and a senior in high school. I play for highland springs high on the varsity girl's volleyball team as well as varsity girls softball team. I have played volleyball since i was twelve years old and softball since I was ten years old. I live with my single father Clenford Cheek. My mom passed due to Sickle Cell Anemia when I was 16 years old. Loosing my mom was the worst thing that has ever happened to me. What inspired me to get into any sport was the videos that my mon showed me of her when she played softball and volleyball in school. I've never seen so many home runs before. Her catching skills were marvelous and don't get me started on her speed. My mom's softball talents were great but the way she passed and spiked the ball on the court and how it made the other team tremble with fear, that set it for me. My short term goal is to become a five-star volleyball player for Howard University. Dr. Cheek, orthopedic surgeon is my long term goal. I'm putting an abundance amount of hard work toward these goals. I do this all for my mom and I will stop at nothing to get where I want to be and become who I want to be.
