I’m a 17 year old student athlete that runs Cross Country as well as Track and Field. I started running my sophomore year of high school in the fall for cross country with hopes to break all of my brothers school records not knowing how hard it would be, but took it more serious during track season finishing with a 4:49 1600m. When i came back into the next season for Cross Country midway through our old administration team had tried canceling all sports and firing my coach which made my training take a huge hit and my team was split apart. But I had persevered and made it to state, arriving ten minutes before our race had started due to poor team management. My teammate and I had a pretty bad race. When the spring came and it was time for Track my school had canceled all athletics and my old coach teammates and I were fighting to bring it back. Finally when there was around 4-5 weeks left in the season Track was back and we were ecstatic I had raced hard with what little time I was given and after all the hard work I made it to state and medalled with a 4:38. I’m not saying this story for it to be a sob story or for any pity I’m saying this to show that through and through with all these trials and tribulations I can keep working for my goals and whatever is thrown at me. So that is what id like schools to understand when they see me a person who can keep fighting for what he loves. Now for my final season im coming for it all in Cross country and Track to show people what im really capable of.
